Kiki Pau‘s White Mountain was one of my favourite albums back in 2010. It was a nice compilation of well-constructed songs, with catchy pop melodies and a nice touch of classic rock. After a long wait, today I read the news that come June and the band will release their third full-length, which will be self-released digitally. As a sign of what might come in a few weeks, the band has released a long jam recorded last summer. Better to listen to it late at night.
Chances are that you already watch this video on any other blog, but it is so cool that I can’t help posting it myself. Electric duo Phantom were formed a few months ago, but they are quickly positioning itself as the next big thing out of Helsinki thanks to a fashionable image and an attractive video debuted at SXSW. Musically, Scars is moody pop song of intriguing textures with a jazzy twist. Watch the video below and do not forget to check the whole EP on the band’s soundcloud.
From the northern city of Oulu indie pop outfit Stache hit the Glue mailbox with the funky sounds of their latest release Game On. Led by a a cool bass line, a catchy guitar riff and collective vocals, this is a let’s-get-the-party-started tune, which I hope it will sweeten the back to work feeling. If you like the song, go to the band’s website for more funk-soul-pop vibes.
Back in January I was hooked to a track from Esa Linna‘s first solo EP. That was a cute power pop song, but now we get to see a very different side of the artist. Piece of Me is a gentle and relaxed track built around acoustic sounds. Watch the video below and remember that you can buy the whole EP, including a bonus EP, through Kool Kat Musik.
