On the heels of two excellent albums with Hexvessel, Helsinki-based Englishman Mat “Kvohst” McNerney has a new project, Beastmilk, which is defined as apocalyptic post-punk. Or in different words as if The Cure and Joy Divison would have signed for the Vertigo label in 1971. There are psyched guitars and a very, very obscure sound. Check out below the first single off Beastmilk’s debut full-length Climax, released via Svart Records.
High energy punk rock from Finland… in Spanish. Los Culitos are based in Helsinki, but singer Jonna Tolonen and her band mates believe Spanish is a better language for the band’s super fast, ass kicking, garage punk rock. Los Culitos have already released a couple of 7-inch and a new one is coming this year. Watch below the band’s latest video. It’s 90 seconds non-stop.
Thank god it’s Friday and thank god for rock and roll. Finland’s most popular rock and roller and former Hanoi Rocks frontman Michael Monroe is back with the new single Ballad Of The Lower East Side. This is a fast bubblegum punk rock track with sticky clap-your-hands pop chorus. Classic Michael Monroe sound and an expected follow-up to the well-received 2011 album Sensory Overdrive. As you may guess, the song pays tribute to New York City where the singer lived for several years. The music video shows some old photos from the era when there were junkies, pimps and whores in the Lower East Side.
The new album Horns and Halos will hit the stores on 23 August.
Noisy, dirty, blatant, rough. The Splits are an effective crossover between the 1973 Stooges and The Runaways with power pop, doom and hardcore influnces. These four young girls from Helsinki will show off their garage and punk manners at the Kuudes Aisti festival. After singing with German label P. Trash Records, the band is ready to break through.
